General Participation Agreement

Important: Please read and agree to the following statements before taking part in any activity with The Outdoor Ed School.

Outdoor activities are considered ‘assumed risk' sports and may carry inherent risks. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and take responsibility for their own actions and involvement.

Participant Commitments

By taking part in the activity, I agree to:

  • Follow all instructions and safety guidance provided by The Outdoor Ed School staff for my own safety and the safety of the group.
  • Remain with the group and within the boundaries set by the instructor at all times.
  • Wear all required safety equipment and follow instructions regarding its use.
  • Respect the environment, including proper disposal of litter and controlling noise levels.
  • Replace or cover the cost of any equipment damaged due to misuse, vandalism, or careless handling.
  • Treat all participants and The Outdoor Ed School staff with respect; violence, bullying, or abuse is unacceptable.
  • Understand that instructors may remove myself or any member of the group from the session if deemed unfit to participate safely, including under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Inform the instructor of any medical conditions, injuries, or other factors that may affect my participation (all disclosures will be treated confidentially).
  • Carry or provide the instructor with any necessary medication required during the activity.

Responsibilities of Supervisors

  • Teachers, group leaders, parents, or guardians are responsible for all participants under 18 regarding the statements above.
  • Group leaders must ensure that all parents/guardians of unaccompanied children have given full consent for participation.

Photography & Media

  • Photos and/or videos may be taken during sessions for promotional purposes.
  • If you do not wish for your image to be used, please inform your instructor before the activity begins.
